Although social media has been a storm with Prada’s amazing Spring 2014 collection we couldn’t resist a write-up on Miuccia’s rebelle fleurs. Inspired by Latin American street artists and muralists, like Mexico’s Diego Rivera, Prada commissioned six female artists – El Mac from the United States, Mesa from Spain, Gabriel Specter from Canada, Stinkfish from Colombia, Jeanne Detallante from France, and Pierre Mornet from France – to create the art for her placement prints. In bold primary colours and soft pastels these artists envisaged the faces of imagined feminine fighters, some even created in fur, accompanied by jewel encrusted bodices.
