Now And Then

As textile designers and creators our eye is always on print and texture, in all our surroundings – fashion, art, interiors. For us, art brought to life in a tactile, functional form is what textiles are all about. Anntian, by Berlin design duo Anna Hilken and Christian Kurt, seem equally as enthralled and unable to commit to one category of creation. Each collection they produce covers fashion, accessories and interiors, tied together with hand-painted prints and textured fabrics, that tell a story or share an idea .

For their Autumn/Winter 2013 collection Anntian focused on the textures and quiet beauty of falling leaves – one of those moments in life which offers you the chance to stop and see something something beautiful, right before you, if you choose to see. Anntian explains:

“Falling leaves – it happens one drops right next you and grabs your attention for a moment – a cut in the continuum, a perspective of a moment, which offers two ways in stepping forward. Either you ignore this little irritation, almost don’t recognise, or you get inspired, forced to even inspect the leaves, as it happened to us when within their “sudden appearance” an Aura has arisen.”
