For Robert Ventura Gibson‘s graduating collection, ‘The Secret Boy’s Club’, he looked to the world of secret societies, from innocent teenage clubs of 90s kid’s tv shows like Are You Afraid of the Dark to more sinister intellectual fraternities, like the Freemasons and A New World Order. In his research Gibson studied the symbolism and iconography from gangs, clubs and societies, including Filipino prison tattoos, Masonic symbolism, handshakes and shadow puppets, club badges and antique gold-plated insignia.
Gibson applied a range of surface textile techniques, including quilted fleecing, long-stitch embroidery and printed cotton.
