It’s great to see so many young Australian labels exploring our cultural identity through fashion. Desert Designs, Romance Was Born, Emma Mullholland, Celeste Tesoriero all spring to mind, each with their own unique vision of Australia. And now we’re delighted to have discovered Alison Hope Murray to add to the list!
Born in Melbourne, coming of age in Adelaide and now a Sydney resident Alison is a graduate of UTS womenswear course, with her sights set on London. The designer will be moving to London this year to do her masters in knitwear at prestigious Royal College of Art.
Her debut collection ‘None of Your Beeswax’ draws on and deconstructs typical Australian workwear: the flannel shirt, the Driz-a-Bone coat, the Rainbird raincoat, overalls, the Bonds chesty singlet and horse riding gear. This collection of photos was shot by Christopher Morris for Pages Digital.
