This summer the Tate Modern is showing a retrospective of French avant-garde artist Sonia Delaunay (1885–1979).
Throughout the first half of the twentieth century, she celebrated the modern world of movement, technology and urban life, exploring new ideas about colour theory together with her husband Robert Delaunay.
Nowadays, a lot of creatives dip their toes in numerous mediums but in the early 20th century and artist was an artist and it was man’s world. Sonia Delaunay was not afraid to explore new ideas with her unique bold style. She dabbled in textiles, fashion, costume design, public murals, painting and more across a sixty-year career.
