“WATERHOLES” in pastel
For their Summer 2014 collection Grass & Flowers, presented at MBFWA earlier this year, Desert Designs collaborated with Think Positive to develop a their conceptual print range. Desert Designs have a distinctly Australian aesthetic that is strongly reflected int heir use of print, taken from the archive of late aboriginal artist Jimmy Pike, including ‘JILJI’ are trees and grasses that grow in the flat land between the sand hills; ‘WANAMINTI’ is a desert flower growing along the ground; and ‘JAPINGKA’ is a spiritual story that describes the creation of waterholes.
