It’s always amazing to discover new artists who use limited materials and simple concepts yet still bring something new to the table. Joe Reihsen is one such artist. Working with acrylic paint in acidic rainbow to create immensely detailed and deep textures. Layers upon layers elevate the paint, setting in mini ridges that cast smaller shadows over the canvas. Speculation of what they are and what are they are depicting seem challenged by the artist himself with titles like “Can you tell me how to get to Newport”, “Discreet Hook-up”, “Cute face, cubby waist” and ” I should have gotten your number after the orgy”. Don’t question, just take pleasure in their simple beauty.
