Josh Goot returns to Rosemount Australia Fashion Week for Spring Summer 2011/12, with his first show since 2005. The familiar Josh Goot mini dresses and a-line skirts were replaced by more sophisticated shapes with structured tulip skirts, voluminous dresses and boxy suiting. As a designer who never comprises on quality all fabrics seemed perfectly considered. Neoprene followed from last season used for curved panels and more body-conscious pieces in colour combinations of white, apple green, cobalt and candy pink.
Josh’s signature digital silk prints never fail to disappoint – this season brush-stroke textures in layered patches and long lines added some surprise streaks of magenta, orange, red, citrine and peach to the mix. The last time Josh showed at RAFW he was heralded the master of urban sportswear with his collection of tailored cotton jersey. Although this collection may seem a far cry from the Josh of yesteryear, he has the knack of always remaining true to his aesthetic of clean lines, solid colour and digital prints, while continuing to evolve as a designer.
